Enhanced the management of imported solid waste. The provincial import capacity is 8.07 million tons, 25% more than last year. Judging and reported approval papers more than 800. Office of provincial government has issued <Notice about enhance the management of imported waste solid> in February, Guangdong EPB formulated <Environmental Protection Management Criterion for Guangdong Import Waste Solid > right after, and held the first environmental protection management meeting of import waste solid. Strengthen the degree in punishing illegal action and in checking processing firms. Keep on with the neaten and checking of the 7th kind of spot firms for import waste solid, cancel and rearranged qualifications of 12 spot firms. Illegal waste solid import actions are being punished according to law.

Science and Technology of Environmental Protection

The amending of two provincial standards, <Discharge Standards of Water Pollutants>£¨DB 4426-1989£©and < Discharge Standards of Atmospheric Pollutants >£¨DB 4427-1989£©, have been finished and approved by the provincial government. Issued together by Guangdong EPB and Guangdong Quality Technical Supervision Bureau, <Discharge Limits of Water Pollutants>£¨DB44/26-2001£©and < Discharge Limits of Atmospheric Pollutants >£¨DB44/27-2001£©begin to implement formally from 1st January 2001.

Do well in the propaganda, supervision, instruction and service work of ISO 14000 EMS. There are 14 authenticated organization and 13 consulting organization registered and put into Guangdong EPB records, and 215 firms have obtained certificates of ISO 14001. Zhaoqin Xinhu landscape region has passed the co-examination of CEPA and MOC, and has been approved as "ISO 14000 National demonstration region".
