Environmental Propaganda and Education

Environmental education has made new progress. Up to the end of 2001, there are more than 5000 schools and kindergardens joined into the creation of Green school throughout Guangdong. Guangdong EPB and Guangdong Educational Bureau have organized expertise and leaders together to evaluate, examine and named the second group of Green Schools, which is about 123 of them.

Reinforced the construction of Propagandized fields, work hard in managing one newspaper (Pear River Environmental News Paper), one magazine (<Environment> magazine). The Pear River Environmental News Paper is now public issued. <Environment> magazine has continuously won twice the "excellent Magazine of Guangdong Province " in the public appraisal contest of the third Guangdong excellent magazine; in the appraisal of the third excellent science and technology journal in Guangdong, <Environment> magazine has won the second prize; <Environment> magazine has also entered the phalanx of China magazine, and become one of the key magazines. Management of radiation environment

Held the third meeting of provincial nuclear management committee, basically complete the formulation of <Guangdong Nuclear Power Station/ Linao Nuclear Power Station Accidents Out-site Emergency Plan>. To cooperate with the first loading of Linao Nuclear Power Station, held the 4th nuclear power station accidents out-site emergency rehearse, with more than 3000 people attended. Hundreds of car and ship, thousands of equipments have been used, rehearse lasted for 6hours and 20mimnutes, basically cover all aspects in an emergency plan. The rehearse tested the response ability of emergency organization and the effectiveness of emergency plan, it gain good comments from national evaluation group and emulated delegation from Hong Kong, Zhejiang, Jiangshu and Lian Yuan gang.

Held the provincial working meeting of radioactive environment management, summarized and arranged the radioactive environment management work of Guangdong province, nailed down the near future tasks and requests. Fulfilled the testing and supervision task of the surrounding environment of Da Ya-Wan Nuclear Power Station. The radio nuclide element monitoring station of Global forbidding nuclear test has been working properly; carried out the declaration and registration of provincial radiation sources; handle numbers of radiation accidents and public complains well. The Guangdong provincial urban radioactive waste solid storeroom has passed the examination of CEPA and has put into use, this a symbol of the provincial ability of radioactive environment management has enhanced to a new level.
